Sahel Food Systems Changemakers Conference was held on September 15th, 2022 at NAF Conference Centre and Suites, Kado, Abuja.
Hosted by the Sahel Consulting Ltd, the event had participants from various government and private organizations which included the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Highlights of the conference were discussions on challenges that affect agriculture and food security such as Storage, Processing, Lack of access to Finance etc and also, on building sustainable and resilient ecosystems in Nigeria.
The panelists for the panel discussion session were:
Mr Ayodeji Balogun – CEO, AFEX; Mr Aminu Nyako – CEO, Sebore Farms; Mr Anthony Job – Group Technical Head, Value Seeds; Mrs Nkiru Okpareke – CEO, EnviroGro Farms; Mrs Winifred Okafor – CEO, Bonita Treats; and Mr Kolade Dada – MD, SeedCo Nigeria.
There were Breakout Sessions in which participants generated recommendations on these issues: Food Production; Food Processing; Distribution & Logistics, Trade; Safety & Security; Nutrition; Livestock; Equity & Inclusion; Starting & scaling Resilient Agribusinesses.
A government-private synergy is needed to effectively combat food crisis in other to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.
